Larry and Carolyn Shelton founded TWELVE OAKS ARABIANS in 1991. They were recently
married and both had
backgrounds in farm life
and horses. Carolyn's
nterest had been an
on going lifelong passion
for horses and Larry had
been active as a child in
showing cattle. After
meeting some successful
Egyptian breeders and
having the opportunity to
study and admire the
Egyptian Arabians in
person, they quickly
purchased some acreage
in Richmond, TX and set
out to stock their
broodmare band.
As a CPA, Larry was in
the beginning, primarily
focused on the financial
benefits of horse ownership. But, after experiencing the lifestyle associated with
having your own broodmare band, coupled with the thrill and honor of seeing your home-bred babies win in the show arena, he quickly agreed that horse ownership was the direction we wanted to take.
TWELVE OAKS ARABIANS celebrates its 19th anniversary this year. We are now helping other
people get into the Egyptian
Arabian horse business and
welcome you and your
family to our farm.
